VIDEO: Adam McQuaid Injured After Taking Tumble Into Boards

The NHL is trying to get head shots out of the game. From Rule 48 to stricter concussion testing, there’s definitely been an onus on protecting the brains of players over the last few seasons.

But sometimes, there's nothing you can do. Hockey is a fast, brutal game that can be extremely unforgiving. And, well, you can't protect a guy against himself, can you? Adam McQuaid might be an advocate for such protections.

McQuaid didn’t return to the game, heading to the so-called Quiet Room after visibly appearing woozy on the ice. He’ll undergo concussion tests on Thursday and his status will be determined pending the results.

Puck Daddy reminds us that it was McQuaid who missed action in the 2011 playoffs after missing a check in the corner on then-Philadelphia Flyers forward Mike Richards. It wasn't identical, but it was pretty damn close. It might just be that Adam McQuaid is the Gerald Ford of hockey players.
