In the 2010-11 season, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Kunitz scored 23 goals, good for second on the team as he helped them to make the playoffs easily in the absence of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The 32-year-old Kunitz, who was in the final year of his contract with the team, has been rewarded for his solid play with a two-year contract extension, the team announced on Thursday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have rewarded Chris Kunitz for his good play with an extension through the 2013-14 season.
Though the Penguins might change things around when Crosby returns to full health, especially since Crosby and James Neal haven't had a chance to play together, Kunitz is currently a first-line player for the Penguins and his chemistry with Crosby has been key for the Penguins in the past.
Kunitz’s new deal will run through the 2013-14 NHL season and will pay him an average of $3.725 million per season in the two seasons following the current one.
