Arron Asham Apologizes For Post-Fight Celebration

Arron Asham's post-fight celebration after his take down of Jay Beagle on Thursday night did not look good, and the Penguins tough guy knows it. Following the game when speaking with the media, Asham apologized for the stunt, in which he raised his hands to his head in a "I put him to sleep" gesture.

All the while, Beagle was lying on the ice behind, blood dripping out of his mouth. Via NHL.com:

Saying it was “classless,” Asham apologized for mocking Beagle after dropping him with two punches in Washington’s 3-2 overtime win. “It’s unfortunate the way the fight ended,” Asham said. “I wanted to win but I didn’t want to go out and hurt anyone. It was uncalled for.”

The Capitals were not happy with the fact that Asham dropped the gloves with Beagle, who had been called for a roughing penalty just prior to the fight after a little scuffle with Pens' defenseman Kris Letang. That incident, initiated by Letang, was the reason Asham stepped up to fight Beagle, who obliged.

Alex Ovechkin called the fight "disrespectful" considering Beagle's lack of fighting experience and history in comparison to Asham's impressive resume in the department.
