Blues Vs. Hurricanes Final Score: Matt D’Agostini Gives St. Louis 3-2 Overtime Win

Matt D’Agostini buried the game-winning goal in overtime on Friday night as the St. Louis Blues put away the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-2. D’Agostini was in the right place at the right time as he deflected a puck in front of the net to beat Cam Ward on the redirection, giving St. Louis the win.

Prior to D’Agostini’s overtime goal, the scoring had gone silent for both teams. The first two periods saw the Hurricanes and Blues combine for four goals, but the final frame was scoreless, setting up overtime and D’Agostini’s deflection.

Jay Harrison scored first for the Hurricanes, netting the only first-period goal. Brandon Sutter gave Carolina a 2-0 lead early in the second, and the Hurricanes looked poised to run away with the game.

But St. Louis answered, cutting the Carolina lead to 2-1 on a Jason Arnott midway through the second. And 11 minutes later, the score was tied, thanks to a David Backes.

The score held through the third and almost four minutes into overtime before St. Louis struck again, capping the comeback with the overtime winner.
