James Van Riemsdyk has given the Philadelphia Flyers a 1-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning after the first period in Tampa on Tuesday night. The goal was assisted by Claude Giroux and Jeff Carter at the 12:42 mark in the first period.
Flyers Vs. Lightning Score: Van Riemsdyk Gives Philly 1-0 Lead After First Period
Both teams have played relatively disciplined games with only Daniel Briere of the Flyers taking the only minor of the game. VanRiemsdyk is one assist away from the Gordie Howe hat trick as he fought with Tampa’s Randy Jones early in the first period.
The Lightning are outshooting the Flyers 12-4 and Philadelphia’s Brian Boucher is continuing to pitch the shutout by making all 12 saves while Tampa’s Dwayne Roloson has allowed the only goal on four shots. The Lightning are playing well defensively but need to not allow the lone man in front of the net like they did on the VanRiemsdyk goal.
The Lightning need to find a way to beat Boucher if they want to get back into the game.
