It took seven rounds into the shootout but Kimmo Timonen ultimately scored the game winning goal to give the Philadelphia Flyers their lone victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.

The scoring started with the lone first period goal by James Van Riemsdyk at the 12:42 mark of the first period. The goal came shortly after he was released from the penalty box after serving for his fight with Randy Jones. Van Riemsdyk would later complete the Gordie Howe hat trick with an assist in the second period.
The second period saw a goal scoring bonanza with five combined goals scored on 21 shots. Dominic Moore started the scoring in the first minute for the Lightning to tie the game up at one and the game stayed tied until seven minutes into the period on a Scott Hartnell goal. After Darrell Powe scored on a shorthanded penalty shot, Vincent LeCavalier scored on the power play to bring the Lightning to within one and Teddy Purcell tied the game at three less than a minute later.
Only James Van Riemsdyk was the lone multiple point scorer for both teams with his goal and assist. Newcomer Kris Versteeg was a -1 in 17:44 of ice time for the Flyers. Brian Boucher made 24 saves on 27 shots in the win while Dwayne Roloson had 26 saves on 29 shots in the loss.
