Intrigue Builds As Carolina GM Jim Rutherford Places Doubt In Ian White Trade Rumors

It looked as though Ian White was all but gone, but then, sweeping in at the end of the day was Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford. He told reporters late Wednesday that there is no complete deal in place for the defenseman, although there is an offer on the table.

Stringing together a few tweets from Chip Alexander of the News & Observer, quoting Rutherford:

We had an offer and decided to pull (White) back for a day or two and put [Brett] Carson in the lineup. We have something to consider but that doesn’t mean it will go one way or the other. He could be back in the lineup this week. There are teams out there looking at different things and we have something to consider.

The potential for White to leave town is still there, but it suddenly doesn’t seem as definite as it did earlier today. For more, head over to SB Nation’s Canes Country and stick with this StoryStream for all the latest news and rumors in the run-up to the NHL trade deadline.
