Too Cold For Paint: Lines On Heritage Classic Ice Are Made Of Tape

It’s really cold in Calgary this time of year, apparently. I live in New Jersey, so I can’t really fathom the thought of minus-18 degrees Celsius, but I can assume that “Ice Crystals” in the forecast is probably not a pleasant experience.

↵As they prepare for the Heritage Classic at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium this weekend, it’s so cold that they can’t even paint the lines on the ice. Instead, they’re using tape. Via Dave Lozo of the NHL:

↵That’s kind of insane. At least they won’t have to worry about rain this weekend. In fact, it’s expected to be a balmy 3 degrees Celsius come game time on Sunday.
