In what could be described as a fluky bounce, Mathieu Perrault scored to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead in the second period. The puck was thrown into the offensive zone along the glass and hit one of the metal posts that holds the glass in and kicked the puck right into the slot and right onto the stick of Perrault.
Capitals Vs. Sabres: Perraeault Gives Capitals 1-0 Lead On Fluky Goal
Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller really had no chance on the play as he was trying to retrieve the puck off the glass before it kicked back into the zone. The Capitals are currently outshooting the Sabres 23-11 through a period and a half of play. Most of that offense is due to the Capitals powerplay chances in the first period.
The Sabres need to find some offense to get themselves back in the game and if the Capitals continue to play this type of game, they should be able to cruise to an easy win.
