Shortly after the Capitals took a 1-0 lead off of a Mathieu Perrault goal, the Buffalo Sabres tie the game at one off of a Jason Pominville goal. The Sabres capitalized on their first powerplay opportunity of the game from a Brooks Laich goaltender interference penalty at the 8:20 mark of the second period. The goal was assisted by Thomas Vanek and Tim Connolly.
Capitals Vs. Sabres: Jason Pominville Ties Game At One On Powerplay In Second
Much like we said during the first goal update, the Sabres offense hasn’t had much of a chance to gel together and get some five on five time so its fitting that the Sabres score their first goal on their first powerplay of the game. The Capitals are still outshooting the Sabres 24-14 and both goaltenders have had good games thus far into the game. Miller has made 23 saves while Varlamov has made 13 saves.
This game is far from over as both teams could be considered offensive teams rather than defensive teams.
