Patrick Kane was the only player to score in the shootout to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Patrick Sharp gave the Blackhawks the early 1-0 lead in the first period. Sharp’s goal was assisted by Jonathan Toews and Niklas Hjalmarsson. Matt Cooke tied the game in the second period with a shorthanded rush. In the third period, Bryan Bickell scored early to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead but Brett Sterling tied the game back up with three minutes left in the third period.
Penguins Vs. Blackhawks: Patrick Kane Scores Game Winning Shootout Goal
The Blackhawks outshot the Penguins 31-26 in the game. Corey Crawford made 24 saves in the winning effort while Marc-Andre Fleury made 29 saves in the losing effort. The Blackhawks are now four points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference with the win while the Penguins are relatively comfortable in the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference.
