Peter Stastny is a legend in the Colorado Avalanche franchise. While he never played in Denver, the Hall of Famer is best known for his time with the Quebec Nordiques, who moved to Colorado in the mid-90s.
Peter Stastny Tears Apart Colorado Avalanche For ‘Destroying’ Team
Even better, his son Paul plays for the Avalanche now, so Peter has plenty of personal stake in the success and failure of the organization. He let his opinions come out on a St. Louis radio station on Tuesday, and it’s safe to say he wasn’t thrilled with the big trade completed between the Blues and Avs over the weekend.
“This young team was ready to challenge, almost, for a Stanley Cup this season. They were so good. All they needed was some more chemistry, and some synergies. Instead, they destroyed the team. I mean, that was a one-way deal. Mr. Armstrong will look like a genius. I don’t know what they were thinking in the Colorado organization. I should not have said this, but I’m so, so mad what they’ve done to this team. They’ve moved the team about two to three years back again.”
Yikes. More on the Avs at Mile High Hockey.
