Adam Foote has been the subject of trade rumors for several weeks as the Colorado Avalanche have fallen far and have fallen hard out of the Western Conference playoff picture. According to the Denver Post, however, he won’t be going anywhere at Monday’s NHL trade deadline.
NHL Trade Rumors Roundup: Adam Foote, Paul Stastny Reportedly Staying In Colorado
Another player staying in town, according to the Post, is Paul Stastny. Adrian Dater puts the odds of a Stastny trade at “zero”, but he doesn’t rule out the possibility of the Avalanche trading away defenseman John-Michael Liles.
Let’s get to some of the other rumors on this Deadline Eve.
- The St. Louis Blues have already made a huge splash in the 2011 deadline trade market, when they sent Erik Johnson and Jay McClement to the Avalanche last week. They’ve also traded away defenseman Erik Brewer to the Tampa Bay Lightning. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, we shouldn’t expect any more moves from the Blues.
- It’s a competitive market at the center position this deadline, and you can add the Columbus Blue Jackets to the list of teams that are interested in adding depth there. General manager Scott Howson told the Columbus Dispatch that since Derick Brassard is out of the lineup, the Jackets are definitely looking in that area. It’s not going to be easy though, since there are several other teams looking for centers as well.
