Dennis Wideman Traded To Washington Capitals, Expects To Be In Lineup Tuesday

Dennis Wideman, the newest member of the Washington Capitals, hopped on TSN’s TradeCentre and chatted with the panel following his trade from Florida to D.C.

He was still in Florida as of the call and had only talked with Caps general manager George McPhee briefly, but he said that he’s expected to be in the lineup with his new club on Tuesday night when Washington takes on the New York Islanders.

When asked where he’ll fit in on the Caps blueline, he said that he hadn’t spoken with Bruce Boudreau yet, but that he can help “on the power play and in the breakout game.”

Wideman talked about the different frame of mind that he’ll encounter in the Capitals dressing room, where the team is gearing up for the postseason, as opposed to the Panthers locker room, where the players are essentially gearing up for summer.

As for playing with Alex Ovechkin, Wideman said that he’s “good without having to chase him around anymore.”
