After two weeks of practicing with the Colorado Avalanche, it looks as though Peter Forsberg will make yet another return to the NHL. The 37-year-old announced after practice on Sunday that he will sign a contract with the club today.
Peter Forsberg Will Sign Contract With Colorado Avalanche
The news was reported by Adrian Dater of the Denver Post. Forsberg apparently won’t be in the lineup for Monday’s game against the Phoenix Coyotes, and there’s no word just yet on when he will enter the Avalanche lineup.
There’s also no word on the financial terms of his agreement with the club. All we know is that he’s expected to sign after testing his oft-injured foot, and that apparently, he feels confident enough to give it another go.
Forsberg hasn’t played in the NHL since 2008, when he played nine games with the Avs before suffering a groin injury. This time around, hopefully Foppa lasts a bit longer. The move comes at an important for the Avalanche, who sit just four points out of the Western Conference playoffs.
If he is truly healthy, which isn’t an assumption we can make until we see him in an NHL game or ten, there’s no doubt that a boost from one of the best playmakers in the history of the game could help the Avalanche down the stretch.
