For the last few weeks, the Los Angeles Kings were on the road, beating opponents up and down the East Coast en route to one of the more successful road trips in recent team history. On Monday night, the Detroit Red Wings were the ones with the road success. They won their sixth straight game away from Joe Louis Arena.

Michal Handzus opened the scoring for the Kings early in this one, but it wasn't long before Drew Miller tied things up. And then Dan Clearly gave the Wings the lead. And then Nicklas Lidstrom scored. And Pavel Datsuyk. Darren Helm. Drew Miller. Jiri Hudler. 7-1 Detroit.
The final 7-4 score was a lot more respectable than it should've been. Los Angeles scored two goals in the last minute or so of the game. Jimmy Howard kept the Red Wings on top in the first period, making 35 saves overall on the day he signed a three-year contract extension with the Wings.
