Things are officially pretty exciting in Boston. Tuukka Rask made 33 saves on 33 Ottawa Senators shots last night as the Bruins won their sixth straight game -- all on the road -- by a score of 1-0.
Bruins Vs. Senators: Tuukka Rask’s Shutout Helps Boston Top Ottawa
For most of this one, the Bruins looked like they didn’t really give a damn. The lowly Senators outplayed and outhustled them, and as a result, Rask had to be brilliant. This save on a Jason Spezza breakaway in the second period proved to be huge.
Just a minute and a half into the third period, Nathan Horton broke the scoreless tie with a tap in rebound goal in the crease of Craig Anderson. Despite a pretty atrocious first 40 minutes by the Bruins, their goaltender kept them in the game, and give credit where it’s due: when they needed to turn it on in the third period, they did. Horton’s goal was only evidence of that.
With the win, the Bruins moved into a points tie with the second-place Tampa Bay Lightning, although the Bolts do hold one game in hand. The teams are ahead of Pittsburgh by one point and they trail Philadelphia by five.
