Most hockey players are a different breed of people. Most of them are very superstitious. The last time New Jersey's Mattias Tedenby missed an optional morning skate, he scored two goals against the Carolina Hurricanes. Since today's morning skate was optional for the Devils, Tedenby decided that he was going to skip this one as well. The one thing he didn't figure on was all the attention it was going to get:
Mattias Tedenby Wanted To Take A Walk In The Sun Instead
↵↵“Where I played before (in Sweden), that was normal (to skip optional morning skates),” Tedenby said. “I didn’t know it (would get him attention) the first time and I took it and that time I scored two goals. I wanted to try it again. If it doesn’t work I’m never going to skip it (again).”
↵↵It makes sense for players to skip the morning practice if they aren’t fully healthy or if they have played in a handful of games in a row. What was Tedenby’s excuse?
↵↵“I felt like going out in the sun today instead for a walk,” Tedenby explained. “I feel prepared for the game.” “Hey, it’s nice outside. Beautiful. Get some D vitamin.”
↵↵The question is whether Tedenby scores two goals tonight as well.
