There are two things that Tuesday night’s Bruins/Canadiens game are not going to have that the last one did, goals and penalty minutes. Through two periods, the Canadiens and Bruins have combined for goals and penalty minutes, well off their pace in the last game.
Bruins Vs. Canadiens Score: Canadiens Continue To Pile On Goals With 4-0 Lead
Brian Gionta got the lone goal in the second period on the powerplay as both David Krejci and Zdeno Chara try and keep the puck out of the net and still inadvertently bounce the puck off the goaltender and back in the net. The goal was assisted by Scott Gomez and Tomas Plekanec and was Gionta’s fourth powerplay goal of the season. The Canadiens second goal of the period and fourth of the game came from James Wisniewski while assists came from Mike Cammaleri and David Desharnais
A scary moment at the end of the second period as Boston defenseman Zdeno Chara catches Montreal forward Max Pacioretty in a vulnerable position between the benches that sent Pacioretty’s head and neck into the glass partition between the benches. Pacioretty was carted off the ice on a stretcher and Chara was given a five minute interference major and a game misconduct for the hit.
Both goaltenders are playing well with Carey Price making all 18 saves thus far into the game and Boston’s Tuukka Rask has four goals thus far into the game, making nine saves in the second period. The Canadiens are 24-1-4 this season after leading through two periods which is only good for 20th in the league while the Bruins are 5-13-5 while trailing after two periods, good for 7th in the league. That being said, coming back from a four goal deficit is relatively improbable.
