After struggling to find any offensive flow in the first period, the Los Angeles Kings have two goals in the second period to give them a 2-1 lead after two periods in Detroit. Anze Kopitar scored his fourth goal against the Red Wings this season, 7:50 into the second period, to tie the game at one. His goal was assisted by Dustin Penner and Justin Williams. Dustin Brown broke the tie on the powerplay seven minutes later. Alec Martinex had the lone assist on the Brown goal.

After being outshot 11-3 in the first period, the Kings outshot the Red Wings 14-10 in the second period and are now only being outshot 21-17 through two periods in the game. Dustin Penner leads all players in the game with four shots on goal and has a total of six attempted shots, which is tied with Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom.
Jonathan Quick stopped all ten shots in the second period and now has 20 saves on 21 shots while Detroit’s Jimmy Howard has fifteen saves on seventeen shots through two periods.
