NHL Playoff Odds 2011: Vegas Favors Vancouver Canucks To Win Stanley Cup

If there's been one constant in the NHL this season, it's been the Vancouver Canucks. They've led things for at least all of 2011, and as the playoffs begin, they're the No. 1 overall seed and the winners of the President's Trophy.

Don’t tell the fine folks in Vegas that there’s a jinx around that trophy though, because according to those who matter in that town, the Canucks are the favorites to storm through the postseason and win the Stanley Cup this season.

Other favorites, via Bodog.com:

Vancouver Canucks: 3 to 1

Washington Capitals: 11 to 2

San Jose Sharks: 15 to 2

Philadelphia Flyers: 8 to 1

Boston Bruins: 9 to 1

Detroit Red Wings: 10 to 1

Pittsburgh Penguins: 10 to 1

...

New York Rangers: 35 to 1

So, the Rangers are the long shot to win the Cup, but that’s typically what happens when you finish up with 93 points, a full five points behind the No. 8 seed in the opposite conference.

By comparison, the West's lowest team in terms of odds to win the Cup are the No. 6 seeded Phoenix Coyotes and the No. 5 seeded Nashville Predators, both with odds of 30 to 1.
