The Washington Capitals downed the Buffalo Sabres in overtime on Saturday night, but that's not the story. Alex Ovechkin scored the game-winning goal, on a deflection off a defenseman's foot, but that's also not the story. Instead, the story is what Ovechkin did after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime, which can only be described as awesome.
VIDEO: Alex Ovechkin Dances A Jig After Scoring Game-Winning Overtime Goal
Check out the video of Ovechkin’s goal. Keep a close eye on him as he skates toward center ice.
That's Ovie, doing what appears to be the Hokey Pokey in the aftermath of the goal. It's amazing how easy hockey players can make skating, shooting and dancing on ice look, giving the false impression that anyone can do it. Have you every tried doing the Hokey Pokey on ice skates? I can barely do it on land, let alone cruising along on ice with nothing but a razor-thin piece of metal separating me from a face-plant.
If this hockey thing doesn't work out for Ovechkin, maybe he has a future as an Olympic ice dancer.
