There’s no way around it: the Chicago Blackhawks absolutely demolished the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night in Game 4 of their first round NHL playoff series. There’s also no way around the fact that it might be too little, too late; that the Philadelphia Flyers’ feat of coming back from an 0-3 series deficit was history-making for a reason.
Canucks Vs. Blackhawks, Game 4: Chicago Fans Staying Optimistic After Champs Avert Elimination
Don’t tell some fans of the Blackhawks, though, including those at SB Nation’s Second City Hockey.
Whether it is too little too late remains to be seen but consider me fully on board this optimist wave. There are plenty of places to read some negative statements about the Hawks’ chances and I can’t blame them. But looking forward to the next game is just a **** ton more fun… so I’m going with that.
Really, when it comes down to it, why should ’Hawks fans be pessimistic? As SCH so eloquently put it, looking forward to the next game is much better than sulking about the impending end of their Stanley Cup defense, and if a 7-2 drubbing of the Canucks is any indication, there might be some hope after all.
We all know that the postseason is all about momentum, and the easiest way to steal that flow is to embarrass the opposition, right? We’ll find out in Game 5 back in Vancouver on Thursday.
