Penguins Vs. Lightning: Dwayne Roloson Is The Game-Changer For Tampa Bay

Steve Downie scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period, as the Tampa Bay Lightning staved off elimination again with a 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal set.

Dwayne Roloson made 27 saves for the Lightning, who will try to make team history in Game 7 on Wednesday at CONSOL Energy Center. Tampa Bay has never come back from a 3-1 deficit to win a series.

It’s Roloson’s play that still has Lightning fans buzzing. His play has been game-changing, just ask fellow teammate Steven Stamkos:

“He had a penalty shot save and the rebound saves when it was 2-2,” Stamkos said. “I mean I put it my head when he made those saves at 2-2, ‘Here we go.’ It changed all the momentum.”

The Penguins are 1-for-30 on the power play in the series and defenseman Kris Letang thinks Pittsburgh needs to get back to basics:

“We can’t change everything, but it’s simple stuff. It’s pass, shoot, go to the net, crash the net, tip the puck, pursue the puck, go back and shoot it again. Right now, we’re just moving the puck, pretty much. We’re taking a wide shot, and most of the time it’s a bad-angle shot. We need to simplify things. The answer is in the dressing room. We’re five NHL players on the ice. We have to figure it out.”
