On Tuesday, we were treated to overtime in Game 7 of the NHL playoff series between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks, and it was about as thrilling as could be. Vancouver took a 3-0 series lead then nearly collapsed as the Blackhawks forced Game 7. After clinging to a 1-0 lead throughout the game, Vancouver was awarded a power play with just three minutes to go, and appeared to have the game in hand. Yet, in fitting fashion, Chicago tied it up with a shorthanded goal to force overtime, breaking the collective heart of the capacity crowd at Rogers Arena.
It was almost shocking how it ended: A fluke bouncing puck landed at the stick of Burrows with nothing but Corey Crawford, who had been a brick wall, standing between him and the win. Burrows let it rip, aiming at the top-left corner of the net as Rogers Arena erupted in jubilaton and, to some degree, relief.
