Bruins Vs. Flyers, Game 1 Final Score: Boston Steamrolls Philadelphia In Decisive Victory

It was a day to forget for the Philadelphia Flyers and their fans, while for the few yellow-clad faithful of the Boston Bruins in attendance, it was a sweet, sweet afternoon at Wells Fargo Center. The Bruins put up seven goals on the home team en route to a 7-3 rout, and in every sense of the word, Boston completely dominated every aspect of the game.

Well, maybe not the power play. That’s still terrible. But in terms of five-on-five play, goaltending, defense, winning puck battles, coaching and hell, fan support, the Bruins were the better club on Saturday in Game 1. David Krejci scored two goals and added two assists, while line mate Nathan Horton added a goal and an assist of his own.

The match-up decisions Flyers coach Peter Laviolette made in the game were slightly confusing, to say the least. He chose to throw his top scoring line, rather than his shutdown unit, up against Krejci, Horton and Milan Lucic throughout the game. That led to several chances and at least two goals for the Bruins in the game. Beyond that, though, the Flyers just didn’t show up to play.

Boston was the better hockey team in every aspect of the hockey game, and we head into Monday’s Game 2 with the Bruins holding a 1-0 series lead.
