If Detroit’s going to win Game 2 of its Western Conference Semifinals series against San Jose, the Red Wings will have to come from behind. The Sharks lead 1-0 after the first period in San Jose.
Red Wings Vs. Sharks Score: San Jose Up 1-0 After First Period
San Jose scored early, with Ian White capitalizing on a power play by blasting in a goal in the game’s first five minutes. Then the Sharks and goalie Antti Niemi hunkered down to shut down the Wings.
Detroit held the edge in shots in the first quarter, with 12 to San Jose’s seven, but couldn’t sneak even one goal past Niemi. And that was with three power play opportunities in the period.
Just one goal through four periods against a team as talented as the Sharks? That’s not going to cut it.
