The Detroit Red Wings will need a third-period comeback against the San Jose Sharks if they want to even this series at one game apiece. The Sharks hold a 1-0 lead after two periods.
Red Wings Vs. Sharks Score: San Jose Keeps Offensive Pressure On, Still Leads, 1-0
The Sharks best chance at a second goal came just after the five minute mark when San Jose's Douglas Murray was able to get off two quick shots against Detroit's Jimmy Howard. Murray came from the side of the net and attempted a wrister that bounced right back at him for the rebound. Murray quickly got off a second shot that went through Howard's five-hole. But it looked as though Pavel Datsyuk got his stick on the puck to prevent the goal.
Neither team was able to take advantage of their respective power plays in the second period, while Ian White's first-period power play goal remains the only score of the game.
San Jose turned the shot advantage in their favor during the second period, making 19 to Detroit’s nine. In total, San Jose leads Detroit in shots, 26-21.
