The Washington Capitals had all the momentum and all the jump as overtime began in Game 2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but tired personnel and a bad line change led to a wide-open Vincent Lecavalier in front of the net just 6:19 into the extra session. He didn't miss.

Lecavalier received a pass from Teddy Purcell right on the door step, forced goaltender Michal Neuvirth into making the first move and then roofed a shot over the shoulder and into the top shelf. The Lightning won the game, 3-2, and now hold a 2-0 lead in the series after two games on the road in D.C.
The Capitals threw everything they had at Dwayne Roloson and the Lightning, dominating the game for long stretches of time. That’s why the way the final goal happened -- basically allowing Purcell to streak down the far wing untouched while the Caps made a line change due to a few fatigued men on the ice -- was so ironic. Given the way the game played out, the Lightning should have been the ones caught napping at some point.
But that’s the way it played out. Two close, tight games that the Bolts have been fortunate enough to win. We head to Tampa Bay for Game 3 on Tuesday.
