Patrice Bergeron took to the ice on Tuesday morning for the Boston Bruins skate at TD Garden as they prepare for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Could he play?
Patrice Bergeron Out For Game 2 Vs. Tampa Bay, According To Report
Claude Julien was non-committal after the morning skate, telling the assembled media that he’d play if he were in warmups, without giving any indication whether or not he’d be in warmups. According to the Boston Globe, however, he won’t play.
A source close to Patrice Bergeron told the Globe’s Kevin Dupont that the center will not play tonight. Bergeron has skated the last three days. He participated in practice yesterday. Bergeron is expected to skate this morning. However, Bergeron has yet to take hard contact, which indicates he has not been cleared for game action. Bergeron could return later in the series.
Bergeron, of course, has a history of concussion problems. He suffered this most recent one in Game 4 against the Philadelphia Flyers on a hit from Claude Giroux. The general way to treat concussions is to just allow for plenty of rest, and it's only been a week and a half since Bergeron played a game.
