They were the fastest two goals allowed in playoff history for the Philadelphia Flyers. Just 63 seconds into the start of a must-win Game 3 against the Boston Bruins, goals from Zdeno Chara and David Krejci put Boston up 2-0, and put the Flyers firmly back on their heels.
Bruins Vs. Flyers, Game 3 Score: Boston Grabs Quick Lead, Embarrasses Philadelphia In First Period
It was evident from the drop of the puck that the Flyers weren’t ready for the Bruins. The two goals aside, basically thanks to two giant miscues in the defensive end by Philadelphia, the Bruins just had a ton of jump in the entire first period. Somehow, they only out-hit Philly 15 to 14, but at least half of those hits were of the crushing, I’m-going-to-embarrass-you-on-national-television variety.
The Flyers are off of their game, the TD Garden crowd is buzzing and the Bruins are following suit. There are still 40 minutes of hockey left and the Flyers have power play time on fresh ice to start the second period, but as of now, there’s no reason to think another Philadelphia comeback is in order.
