Kris Versteeg has been a thorn in the side of fans of the Philadelphia Flyers since coming over in a pre-deadline trade, but should the Flyers go on to win Game 4 and perhaps more, they'll need plays like his breakaway goal to keep them going.
Flyers Vs. Bruins, Game 4 Score: Kris Versteeg Goal Ties Score At 1-1 After Two Periods
Mike Richards stole the puck from Brad Marchand around the 13 minute mark and sprung Versteeg on a breakaway. He didn't miss, lifting a backhander over the right pad of Tim Thomas. Otherwise, Thomas has been fantastic on Friday night as usual, although he's made only 12 saves in the game. Boston has 20 shots to the Flyers 13.
A stat that could be of interest, given Thomas’ low save total. In the seven wins he has in the 2011 postseason, he’s faced 34 or more shots in all of them. In his three losses, he’s faced 27 or less. It seems as though the Flyers are on pace for fewer than that, of course.
So, are there 20 minutes left in the Flyers season, or can they pull out a victory and force a Game 5? We’ll find out sooner than later.
