In the third period of Game 6 on Monday night between the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins, Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson of CBC felt that the Canucks needed to put some more jump into their game.
VIDEO: CBC Commentators Think Canucks Should Take Run At Tim Thomas
In short, they needed to send a message to the Bruins that they weren’t going to go down without a fight, despite the lopsided number on the scoreboard overhead. Uh, the way they advocated that might not go over well.
Simpson: Now if I'm a Canucks player, I think you just have to -- even if you take a penalty, you've gotta get some bumps in. I know you're opening up a can of worms, but if I'm Raffi Torres, you've gotta establish a little more of a body position. Right now you've got a 5-1 game, but you've gotta get inside and bump [Tim Thomas] around a little bit.
Hughson: You mean, have like a speed wobble as you’re driving wide and accidentally on purpose run him over?
Simpson: Absolutely, absolutely. [Roberto] Luongo’s not in at the other end, and it doesn’t necessarily bode well for [Cory] Schneider, but you’re not going to do that in Game 7 of a nothing game. So here’s the time if you can to try to make an impact.
Yes, let’s go take a run at Tim Thomas. Brilliant idea, CBC. Anyway, remember what happened last time somebody got close to Thomas? Heh.
