The two teams that were supposedly most interested in Jaromir Jagr are not out of the running for his services. The Pittsburgh Penguins announced via a press release before 12 p.m. on July 1 that they're not going to be signing Jagr, pulling their best offer since they don't want to be part of a bidding war.
Jaromir Jagr Won’t Join Detroit Red Wings After Another Team Withdraws Interest
According to Craig Custance of the Sporting News, the Detroit Red Wings have also pulled out of the Jagr sweepstakes. Which teams are left? Montreal and Philadelphia have reportedly shown interest, and there could be another team or two. It's free agency, anything could happen.
It appears as though Jagr and his agent, Petr Svoboda, have not made many friends this offseason though. Two teams with the most interest have pulled out of the running completely after the player and agent tried to gin up a bidding war, and who knows, this could all come back and bite the Jagr camp right in the behind.
