Every hockey player dreams of winning the Stanley Cup, skating around the ice and hoisting the trophy high above his head. Shortly following that moment on the list of hockey dreams is the day with the Cup, when players get to take Lord Stanley’s trophy around their hometown. Fans show up to watch its arrival, and it’s generally a good time.
Nathan Horton Loses Some Precious Time With Stanley Cup
Not for Nathan Horton, however, who had to wait several hours for the Cup to show up in his hometown of Dunnville, Ontario, according to an AP story.
Horton’s wife, Tammy Plante-Horton, tweeted that the Cup had gotten lost in Boston. It didn’t show up in Canada until 2:30, when most of the fans who had come out to see it had gone home already, disappointed.
The AP’s story didn’t include a quote from Horton, but if it did, it probably would have reflected disappointment with a tinge of annoyance. Since he’s Canadian, chances are he wasn’t too upset about it. Those Canucks are so polite. Except when the Canucks lose, of course.
