There was speculation, namely from Puck Daddy, earlier this month that the New York Islanders could be switching to a black alternate jersey. Well, the leading blog on all of hockey fashion, Icethetics, has confirmed on Monday that this will indeed be the new look of the team.
New York Islanders To Look Very Much Like New York Mets

How the Islanders could possibly screw up their uniforms is really beyond the realm of understanding. They have such an awesome color scheme and they’ve had so many sexy looking uniforms over their history, but then every once in a while they plop in some monstrosity like this and ruin it all.
They made the complete switch last season to their original jerseys, which was a fantastic move for a franchise that’s been challenged in the fashion department so many times. The Isles had apparently learned that basic is best, and sticking to their roots is also best.
Now, they’ve gone and ruined it again with this horrible third jersey that’s apparently been inspired by the New York Mets. Maybe they’re trying, in their own subtle way, to lobby for an arena at Willets Point...
