James Wisniewski will sit down for eight regular season games as he serves his suspension for a nasty, intentional elbow to the face of Cal Clutterbuck of the Minnesota Wild. He'll also miss the remainder of the preseason, and he'll forfeit north of $536,000 in salary.
James Wisniewski Suspended Eight Regular Season Games
James Wisniewski was suspended eight regular season games, plus the remainder of the preseason, for his hit on Cal Clutterbuck of the Minnesota Wild.

He'll be eligible to return to the Columbus Blue Jackets lineup on Tuesday, October 25 when the team hosts the Detroit Red Wings.
New NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan has had quite the busy preseason so far. Wisniewski's suspension is the fifth of the preseason, and it's certainly the most severe of the bunch. As has become his new custom, he explained the ruling in a video on NHL.com.
There was intent, it was after the final horn and Wisniewski targeted the head of Clutterbuck. All of those factors add up to a lengthy suspension, which was only complicated by the fact that Wisniewski is a repeat offender.
