Throughout the latter part of last season and the entirety of this season, the Pittsburgh Penguins have shown that they have the depth and firepower to cope with a long-term injury to their star, Sidney Crosby. For the next month or so, that might not be the case. The Penguins learned on Sunday that forwards Jordan Staal and James Neal would both miss extended time, while forward Craig Adams also re-aggravated an injury, leaving the Pens dangerously thin up front.
Pittsburgh Penguins Injuries: Jordan Staal, James Neal Out Several Weeks
The injuries just keep getting worse for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who will now be without James Neal and Jordan Staal for multiple weeks.
Staal suffered a knee injury in a knee-on-knee collision with New York Rangers forward Mike Rupp and will miss 4-6 weeks. Luckily, the injury doesn't require surgery and Staal will return well before the postseason with some rest and therapy. There's no timetable yet on Neal's injury, but he suffered a broken foot and will be out for multiple weeks, according to Penguins Head Coach Dan Bylsma.
