Jakub Voracek injury: KHL team could terminate contract

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek may have his contract terminated by his Kontinental Hockey League club HC Lev Praha due to the knee injury he suffered this past weekend, according to a Czech language report.

Due to the NHL lockout enacted by commissioner Gary Bettman on Sept. 15, Voracek signed overseas in an attempt to stay in game shape while the league continues collective bargaining negotiations with the NHL Players Association.

Voracek is expected to miss up to one month while recovering from the injury. Due to restrictions by the KHL, its league members are only allowed to employee three NHL players on their rosters at a time. This means that Lev Praha would terminate Voracek’s contract in order to sign another NHL star.

As of this time, Voracek and Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara are the only NHLers on the club's roster. Detroit Red Wings forward Jiri Hudler was on the team, but had his contract terminated after sustaining a groin injury.
