The Charlotte Checkers are currently in first place in the Western Conference and have the most points in the American Hockey League.

Registering 19 points in 13 games thanks to a 9-3-1 record, the Carolina Hurricanes' minor league affiliate holds a six-point lead over the star-studded Oklahoma City Barons in the South Division. The Barons are currently in eighth place in the West despite the aide of young NHL stars such as Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall.

In the Eastern Conference, the Springfield Falcons currently possess the top spot with a 8-1-2 record (18 points) in 11 games. The Falcons are one point back of the Checkers for the most points in the league and have a two-point cushion over the Syracuse Crunch in the East as well as from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the Northeast division. The Sound Tigers currently claim ownership to the No. 4 seed in the East as the top-three spots in the conference belong to division leaders.
