After a 90 minute meeting on Monday evening in Manhattan, the NHL and NHLPA have agreed to resume CBA negotiations on Tuesday, even if the league is “frustrated” with the current status of talks, according to the Canadian Press.

The NHL and NHLPA will meet again Tuesday, and it’s the league’s hope that a union proposal will be put on the table.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said that he hopes the NHLPA will put forth a proposal that covers the economic issues, which were briefly touched upon Monday evening. The league wants to cover the core economics such as the revenue split before moving on to things like contracting issues. The players raised questions about contracting issues in meetings Monday but the NHL was not ready to discuss them.
It’s unclear whether or not the union will put a proposal on the table Tuesday, but it’s certainly the league’s hope that they do. The union will meet internally Monday night to go over next steps and the two sides will resume communication on Tuesday morning with the expectation of meeting later in the day.
18 NHLPA members attended Monday night’s session in New York. Several owners on the NHL’s negotiating committee also attended.
