With 23 games in the books, the Dynamo Minsk are the best in the KHL.


Led by Minnesota Wild's Niklas Backstrom, the Minsk have 51 points in 23 games. The Minsk have 14 wins, four in shootouts, four losses and one overtime loss.
The Minsk have a four-point lead in the West over No. 2 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Lokomotiv features NHL players Semyon Varlamov (Colorado), Artem Anisimov (Columbus) and Dmitry Kulikov (Florida).
Rounding out the top five in the West are: SKA St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow and Torpedo.
Traktor is leading the East with 47 points and 14 wins. Avangard, which has Columbus's Nikita Nikitin, is second in the East with 44 points in 24 games.
In third in the East is Metallurg Magnitogorsk with 47 points in 22 games. Metallurg's NHL players include Ottawa's Sergei Gonchar, Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin and Toronto's Nikolai Kulemin.
Fourth in the East is Ak Bars Kazan with 43 points in 23 games. In fifth with 37 points is Metallurg Novokuznetsk.
