The NHL and NHL Players Association resumed meetings on Wednesday afternoon when the two sides met at an undisclosed location with U.S. federal mediators.

The NHL and NHLPA met at an undisclosed location on Wednesday with federal mediatiors.

According to multiple reports, the meeting took place at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service field office in Woodbridge, New Jersey and began around 11 a.m., ET. Scot L. Beckenbaugh and John Sweeney are the two mediators assigned to the negotiation.
While both parties sent representation to the meeting, none of the board of governors attended. Instead, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, deputy commissioner Bill Daly and the owners’ legal counsel represented the league’s constituency.
The NHLPA announced that 13 players would be attending the meetings, which included the following: Craig Adams, Adrian Aucoin, Brad Boyes, Chris Campoli, Mathieu Darche, Shane Doan, Ron Hainsey, Jamal Mayers, Andy McDonald, Steve Montador, Brendan Morrison, Douglas Murray and Daniel Winnik.
Despite both sides attending the meeting, it is not believed that they met face-to-face to engage in negotiations. According to John Shannon of Sportsnet, the NHL and NHLPA were placed in separate rooms while the mediators met with each side individually, which is a common practice in mediation.
As of 5 p.m., ET on Wednesday evening, meetings were still taking place. It remains unclear whether the two sides will reconvene on Thursday.
