Dramatic victories abounded in the NHL on Thursday night, with the Coyotes, Ducks and Wild all scoring wins via shootout.

The Coyotes' shootout victory over the Calgary Flames may have been Thursday night's best comeback. Phoenix fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but rallied to take a 3-2 lead in the third period and then took the shootout 1-0, as Ray Whitney, who also scored in regulation, netted the Coyotes' first shot. Mike Smith saved two shootout attempts and made 21 saves in the win and Phoenix remained five points clear of the Dallas Stars for the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference.
The Ducks and Wild had less dramatic wins: Anaheim came back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits, and Saku Koivu had the only goal in the Ducks 3-2 shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes while the Wild allowed a goal to the Florida Panthers in the third period to head to overtime, then blitzed the Panthers 2-0 in a shootout for a 3-2 shootout victory. Both the Ducks and Wild remain in the running for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference; Minnesota is three points behind Dallas, and Anaheim four back.
Elsewhere, the Jets got two goals and an assist from Andrew Ladd and held on for a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning after taking a 4-1 lead. Edmonton, the second-worst team in the NHL, blanked the Philadelphia Flyers, currently fifth in the East, 2-0.
