Bruins Vs. Capitals, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 1: Tim Thomas, Braden Holtby Carry Teams To Overtime In Scoreless Tie

Braden Holtby was busy for the first two periods of Game 1 between the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins. In the third period, he could have taken a nap.

The Capitals completely took over the tempo of the hockey game in the final period, beginning with a few strong shifts early. They turned that offensive pressure into a power play opportunity 3:12 in, but just as Holtby was fantastic in the first 40 minutes, Tim Thomas was up to the task in the latter 20. The Caps threw nine shots on the Bruins goaltender in the third period -- compared to Boston's three -- but Thomas was perfect. It's a 0-0 tie after 60 minutes.

The goaltenders have bailed their teams out for lengthy stretches in the game. In overtime, it could be decided by which one cracks first.
