VIDEO: T.J. Oshie’s Assist Sets Up David Backes’ Goal, Blues’ 2-0 Lead

The St. Louis Blues took a 2-0 lead on the San Jose Sharks late in the second period of Game 2 of their Western Conference Quarterfinals series on David Backes' goal. But given the work T.J. Oshie did on the setup to the goal, he really deserved more than an assist.

Oshie brought the puck up the boards and evaded two Sharks defenders, then cut toward the goal and made another one miss before finding an open Backes, who needed only to one-time a wrist shot at an open side of Antti Niemi's net.

The goal extended St. Louis' lead to two goals, and was in keeping with the Blues' dominance in the second period. Since Jaroslav Halak headed to the bench with an injury, Brian Elliott has faced just four shots.
