Flyers Vs. Penguins, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 3: Pittsburgh’s Early Lead Evaporates Again

The Pittsburgh Penguins started off Game 3 just as they had hoped. A strong shift, a goal. We'd make the joke about the Philadelphia Flyers having them right where they wanted them, of course, but that's been done to death. Of course Philadelphia came back. It didn't take long.

First, Max Talbot scored a shorthanded goal to tie up the score at 1-1, and it seemed as though Pittsburgh could feel the game unraveling a bit from there. Emotions boiled over.

That seemed to shift the momentum for Philadelphia, and shortly thereafter, the Flyers were awarded a two-man advantage. They capitalized on a Danny Briere tally to take a 2-1 lead, and then about three minutes later, Briere scored again to open the lead up to 3-1.
