Sharks Vs. Blues, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 3: Tied 1-1 Entering First Intermission

St. Louis Blues forward Patrik Berglund and San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns exchanged power-play goals as the two teams enter the first intermission of Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinal playoff series tied at one.

Berglund's goal, his third of the playoff series, came just 31 seconds after Sharks center Tommy Wingels was sent off for high-sticking. A shot by Blues defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo rattled off the post and to an unattended Berglund, who back-handed the puck into the empty net to open the game's scoring. Along with Colaiacovo, center Jason Arnott was credited with an assist.

With Blues defenseman Roman Polak serving a two-minute minor for cross-checking Sharks center Joe Thornton, the Sharks got the equalizer when Burns streaked down the right-wing boards and beat Blues goalie Brian Elliott with a backhand shot over his blocker shoulder. Thornton and Logan Couture were credited on Burns' goal, the first of his playoff career.

Sharks goalie Antti Niemi stopped 13 of 14 shots in the first 20 minutes, while Elliott, who is playing for an injured Jaroslav Halak, stopped seven of the eight shots the Sharks got on net. In a physical game, the Sharks are outhitting the Blues, 18-13.
