Sharks Vs. Blues, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 3: Andy McDonald Makes It 2-1, Blues

One minute and one second into the second period, St. Louis Blues forward Andy McDonald slid a deflected point shot from defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo into the empty net behind San Jose Sharks goalie Antti Niemi to give the Blues a 2-1 lead.

Center Patrik Berglund, who opened the scoring when he converted a rebound off a Colaiacovo shot 14:31 into the game, received the second assist on McDonald's goal, his second of the series. Both of the Blues' goals have come by putting bodies in front of Niemi and taking advantage of defensive lapses by the Sharks, who left Berglund and McDonald unattended at the side of the net.

Defenseman Brent Burns has the lone tally for the Sharks, beating Blues goalie Brian Elliott on a backhand shot on the power play at the 16:45 mark of the first period.
