Sharks Vs. Blues, Game 3: Blues Take 3-1 Lead After 2

Andy McDonald scored 1:01 into the second period and set up a Jason Arnott goal on the power play to give the visting St. Louis Blues a 3-1 lead on the San Jose Sharks entering the third period of their Game 3 of their Western Conference Quarter-Final playoff series, which is currently tied at 1-1.

McDonald scored when a shot by defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo from the point caromed off the bodies in front of Sharks goalie Antti Niemi to McDonald, who was stationed to the side of the net and was able to slide the puck into the empty net. Ten minutes later, the Blues took advantage of an interference penalty on Sharks defenseman Douglas Murray when McDonald delivered a cross-ice pass to Arnott, who one-timed the puck by Niemi.

The Blues, who already have a pair of power play goals on the night, will open the third period with the man advantage after Sharks winger Daniel Winnik was sent off for boarding Colaiacovo at the 19:39 mark of the period.

Through 40 minutes, the Blues have out-shot the Sharks 23-19 and hold a 25-23 edge in the face-off circle. The Sharks have been the more physical team, out-hitting the Blues 34-20.
